Communications at KMS

and how to make them work

We have heard that our communications are not being received consistently. This is caused by unsubscribing or blocking School Messenger. The problem is that when you block any district or other school's messages, you block Kittredge as well. We have created an information and troubleshooting guide so that you know what our two main communication tools are and what they look like.

If you are not receiving email, first do a google search on how to search junk/trash/spam folders. If you find the emails, add the sender to your safe list. if that doesn't work, email Mrs. Carlson who will submit a DCSD help desk ticket to remove your email address from the blocked list.

You can fix your own blocked text problem in about 30 seconds. Here's how:

  1. Open a new text message. The recipient phone number is 67587.
  2. Type HELP in the message and send it.
  3. You will receive a reply that says: SchoolMessenger notification service: Reply Y to subscribe or STOP to cancel. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies.
  4. Reply with
  5. You will receive a reply that says: You're registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies.
  6. You will now receive texts from all of your children's schools (and DCSD, so don't block again).
If the above steps do not work, you may need to check your smart phone settings.
For iPhone
Blocked iMessages on iPhone
Go to Settings > Messages. Under SMS/MMS, tap Blocked Contacts. Look for 67587. If it's blocked, unblock it.

Filtered messages on iPhone
To see if you are filtering messages, go to Settings > Messages, scroll down and look at the toggle for Filter Unknown Senders. Shut it off if necessary. Or add 67587 as a contact, name it School Messenger.

Blocked messages on Android

For Android phones, this is how you can retrieve blocked messages.

  1. Open the Messages app, and click the three dots on the top right corner of the screen.
  2. From that drop-down menu, choose “Settings.” From there, tap on “Block numbers and messages.” From there, go to “Blocked messages.”
  3. From there, all of your blocked text threads will be there.
  4. To retrieve a message thread with all of its messages, press and hold on to the conversation. After that, it will highlight the conversation.
  5. With the highlighted messages, three dots will appear at the top right corner of the screen. Tap those dots.
  6. A drop-down menu will appear. Select the option “Restore.”
  7. Your messages will now be retrieved, and this number will be able to call and text you again. The messages sent while the number was blocked will be in the Messages app, just like a regular thread.
